Seattle Marathon Starts Again

This morning of the 25th of November 2007, Seattle Marathon 2007 starts. Today, Seattle is expecting the same weather they receive each year, mid-40s with a 30% chance of rain. The course features some very unique segments that can exploit Seattle's wet and windy weather. Namely, the 3.5 mile run on the bridge which runs over Lake Washington. After runners get past this challenge, they line Lake Washington. Immediately following the shoreline is a 200 ft climb located 20 miles into the marathon. This segment, from the bridge onwards, separates the joggers from the runners as the lactic acid can ruin your emotions when trudging up the hill.

To help with this, 15 aid stations are placed throughout the course. They stock themselves with water, gatorade, and energy gel (only if its one of the more important stations). As Coach Joe English advises, try to use these as much as possible if you regularly train with them.

This year's favorite for the women's race as of pre-race is Trish Steidl. Her husband Uli Steidl is not attending this race because he is planning to race in California. Shame, because Uli has competed in the last 8 years and is not here to defend his title.
